About Patrick

I am an autistic young man who lives in an Atlantic Canada city in a house started by Jean Vanier.  I love to travel and I love music, dogs, sports, and cities where I have been as a child or in the past where I stayed in hotels, shopped, went to major plays and musicals like Elf, Mamma Mia and The Lion King, went to sporting events,  and that, if they have them, have L’Arche houses.

As a child I have been to Halifax in a hotel with a pool, Boston in a hotel with a pool, Saint John in a Hotel with a pool, and Fundy Park a few times and Cabot Park a few times to go camping.

I play the guitar, piano, mandolin, and ukulele, playing music mostly by ear.

My favorite kind of dog is the Border Collie, which Dillon and Molly were and Ella and Danny (all family dogs) are.

I have been, twice, to Toronto with my Mom for the Autism Symposium at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, both times meeting autistic animal behaviorist and writer Temple Grandin and telling her about my life where I live.  And I and a friend who traveled once together to Atlanta may have plans to see this coming Symposium, enjoying Toronto and its many marvels: Subways, shopping, musicals, and the Royal York and its amenities.  As a child I and my family used to travel to Toronto to visit my grandmother in her apartment, who had the Blue Jays logo on her door and who had been to many Blue Jays home games, watching Disney movies, taking the subways, buying Lego’s toys, and eating out together, and I went 4 times after high school, then buying at least 2 of each, DVDs and CDs, using the many listening stations in the HMV stores and seeing major musicals.  I have written stories involving my life, my dogs, my traveling times, where I live, and my Adoption Time and its details, and have a story underway about my blessed school years with a bonus Community College chapter.

Back to traveling, I love hotels that have a pool inside, elevators, good views from the room, a flat screen TV in the room with multiple channels and Pay Per View, and that are close to shopping and sports.  For shopping I like CD/DVD stores with listening stations and a good selection of music and movies, bookstores with a vast selection of travel and dog books, and I hope to find a Babe the Gallant Pig book and a new Nop’s Trials book that is not beat up, possibly the same color as Jennifer’s copy, and maybe a book called Finding Danny, about a Border Collie belonging to a little girl who runs away and the girl volunteers at an Animal Rescue shelter in efforts to find the dog.

I also hope to get a new 6-string guitar, either by buying it at Long and McQuade or for Christmas (either a Seagull or an Ovation).

(A note from Patrick's sister: This is place for Patrick to share his unique thoughts and musings about the world around him, focusing on what's important to him.)
